SMVC Concert of
Remembrance
on Saturday 10th November
The Saddleworth Male Voice Choir
will present their annual
Concert of
Remembrance
at Uppermill Civic Hall at
7.30pm on Saturday 10th November.
In the first half of the concert the choir will
sing from their ever changing repertoire of
well-known male voice favourites followed
by a sing-along of popular world war songs.
The second half of the concert will include
the Act of Remembrance with the Standard
Bearer of the Royal British Legion and a
reading of the poem ‘For the Fallen’.
The choir’s special guests are
Boarshurst
Silver Band
under the baton of their MD
James Garlick. In addition to playing a
selection of band music, the band will take
part in the Act of Remembrance with the
playing of
Nightfall in Camp
and their lead cornet player will play the last
post and reveille.
The occasion provides an opportunity for
the local community to join with the whole
nation in remembering not only the fallen of
two world wars, but also those who have
made the supreme sacrifice in more recent
conflicts, or who have lost their lives
through acts of terrorism. The Mayor and
Mayoress of Oldham and the Chair and
Consort of Saddleworth parish council will
attend the concert.
Tickets
priced at £10.00 are available from
